Two dormers on a weathered shingle roof with a brick chimney

Roofing Repair

Small roof repairs cover the problems that do not justify a new roof: a handful of blown-off shingles, a cracked pipe boot, a lifted ridge cap, or a nail pop that has started to leak.

Signs It’s Time to Call

  • Shingle tabs or fragments in the gutters or yard after wind
  • A visible bare patch or lifted shingle edge
  • A new water stain on a ceiling or attic decking after rain
  • Cracked rubber around a plumbing vent pipe

What’s Usually Behind It

  • Wind uplift on shingles with weak or under-driven nails
  • Rubber pipe boots that have dried out and split after 10 to 15 years
  • Falling branches and ice chunks breaking individual shingles
  • Nails backing out of the decking through thermal cycling
NEPA context

Roofing Repair in Northeastern Pennsylvania

Exposed hilltop and ridge lots in Pike, Wayne and surrounding counties lose shingles in nearly every nor'easter, and the 40 to 50 inches of snow that fall on Lackawanna County each winter push ice and meltwater under shingles at the eaves. Pre-WWII homes in Scranton, Dunmore, Carbondale, and the surrounding areas often have three-tab shingles nearing the end of their life, where a patch buys time before a full replacement.
